This little gem was found on the Internet archive, 320 x 240 pixels sadly with sound pops and disjointed sound. The DivX encoded file has had the sound re-engineered (mp3) and encoded with DivX 6 (Home entertainment). Hope it will appeal. I higher resolution would have been nice. Cinderella, 1922. Tha Laugh O Gram Studios. Don't think international conglomerates with banks of computers making highly sophisticated and realistic animation. Instead, think of a couple of cartoonists, in this case, in Kansas City who get together and start to draw simple animations of fairy stories. The drawings are simple and fluid and really a lot of fun. These cartoons needed almost a thousand laboriously drawn pictures for each minute of film. The cartoonists were Ub Iderks and Walt... favoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 2 reviews ) Topics: disney, fairy tale, Iwerks
Summertime by UB Iwerks, 1935. This is one of a series of animated shorts that Iwerks did about the seasons. They are highly imaginative pictures of abstract ideas. I hope to upload other seasons soon. Topics: Iwerks, summer, animation, cartoon, classic

THE BRAVE TIN SOLDIER very closely follows the original story by the Brothers Grimm. A one-legged tin soldier is cruelly mocked by other toys because of his deformity. The soldier falls in love with a toy ballerina who is desired by the toy king. The king exercises his military power to get the girl for himself. The tale ends tragically, with a surprisingly graphic execution by firing squad. This is probably too violent and weird for little kids. The cartoon itself is very nicely animated,... favoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 4 reviews ) Topics: ANIMATION, CARTOON, FAIRY TALE, IWERKS, CINECOLOR

The following concise, informative description was taken from http://en.wikipedia.org: Flip the Frog was Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's first sound cartoon. It is about a happy-go-lucky, needy frog, named Flip the Frog. This cartoon was created by Ub Iwerks in 1930. He had drawn a frog and his girlfriend in "Night'", one of the last Silly Symphonies short films he drew while working for Walt Disney. After leaving Disney, Ub Iwerks began the Flip cartoon series with the help of Pat Powers. The... favoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 20 reviews ) Topics: ANIMATION, CARTOON, FLIP, FROG, IWERKS
A rare collaboration between Fleischer Studios and Ub Iwerks resulted in this cartoon, based on the moderately successful Republic Pictures "Zeppelin vs. Pterodactyls" cliffhanger serials. The cartoon was shelved for half a century due to a three way legal dispute between Republic, Fleischer and Iwerks. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences rejected Oscar nominations for Ben Burtt's sound design in the cartoon because it had not been formally released and because of the...
